The Hawaii County Radio Control Club (HCRCC) is a model aircraft club located in Keaau in the Puna District (East Hawaii) on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Contingent on favorable weather, we generally meet and share a common-interest camaraderie
atmosphere on Sundays. We enjoy flying all types of models including aircraft powered by electric, nitro fuel, gliders, componsites, foamies and built-ups.
From seasoned experts to novices, we primarily fly model airplanes but members
also fly gliders, helicopters, and small unmanned aerial vehicle (SUAV) multirotor aircraft with onboard first-person view (FPV) cameras, excellent for spotting and locating downed aircraft.
We abide by the guidelines of the Academy of Model Aeronautics
(AMA), the national governing body of model aircraft. Twenty-four club members are currently enrolled, most of whom are AMA members and we abide by the AMA Safety Code. Safety is paramount in our hobby but fun is definitely the key word in
the mission of our club.
We extend our invitation and welcome those who may be interested in flying radio controlled model aircraft. Whether you already own one or not, please drop by and visit us and experience our club's warm
and friendly and welcoming atmosphere. If you so desire, we'll even have you experience flying one of our trainers. We'd introduce nubes (newbies) to the fun aspect of flying often allowing them to fly “under the wing” of our club’s
flight instructor via an RC transmitter training cord. Quite simple, no special skills or previous RC experience necessary.
We welcome and encourage you to check out HRCC video footage on YouTube posted by our club members.
we meet from 9:00A until such time whenever the last person leaves to field on that day. For obvious safety reasons, no less than two members may fly at the field.
